Theresa LePore is a former Supervisor of elections for Palm Beach County. She is most notable as the person who designed the “butterfly ballot”, used in the 2000 presidential election. This would lead the press to nickname her “Madame Butterfly.” Following the controversial results of the 2000 election, she lost her re-election bid in September, 2004 and left office in January, 2005.
She is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida. She graduated from Cardinal Newman High School and Palm Beach Junior College and attended Florida Atlantic University.
Ms. LePore is a very active member of the community serving in many different capacities, especially the Marine Corps, “Toys for Tots” program every Christmas.
