EDNA HIBEL
Renowned Artist and Humanitarian
Noted Palm Beach artist, Edna Hibel, was selected by the National
Woman’s History Project as one of this year’s twelve National
Woman’s History Month 2008 Honorees. Edna was selected due to
her originality, imagination, and beauty of her paintings, stone
lithography, etchings, and porcelain art created over more than eight
decades.
Edna, the only U.S. woman to win the Leonardo daVinci World
Award of Arts, was informed of this historic honor on January 13th
as she celebrated her 91st birthday with members of the public at the
Hibel Museum of Art in Jupiter, Florida.
Edna is known for her sensitive portrayals of mothers and
children from all cultures. She has received a medal of Honor and
citation from Pope John Paul II, and has been presented to Queen
Elizbeth II. Her artwork has been commissioned by a bicentennial
committee at the White House, the National Archives, Project
HOPE and the Komen Foundation.
