Come enjoy the start of the summer season with Benn Mitchell as he reflects upon his career as a photographer in New York City and beyond.

Early in Benn’s career, he landed a job at Warner Brothers. Adventure and opportunity knocked simultaneously on the day the studio asked him to photograph his idol, Humphrey Bogart. Bogart
asked Mitchell how he wanted him to look. Mitchell said, “Can you look tough?” Bogart said, “What are you, a wise guy.” and everyone on the set broke up. He asked for a cigarette and lit it – and the smoke got in his eye during the first shot. Even though he took
several other shots, the first one was the best and is the one we all know today. Mitchell said, “People still buy that picture today.”

He shot stock for Getty Images, producing photographs that, to this day, are used in ads, brochures and publications around the world.
